Email Marketing in a Social Media World

September 17th, 2010 by Adam Q. Holden-Bache

Is social media replacing email as a marketing channel? Are people sharing more on social networks than via email? Is the growth in social media coming at the expense of email?

The landscape is changing- that’s for sure. But as social media continues to grow in popularity, email marketing remains as relevant as ever. In fact, the two channels support each in many ways. Marketers that use a combination of email, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social channels have a decisive advantage over those that do not. Providing content to your audience in the channel they prefer means that your message is reaching your target. And when you provide the ability to share your content, your message can reach an audience far greater than the contacts in your database.
